Solent Dyslexia Services:
We provide testing for dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties/differences such as dyspraxia.
An assessment can be carried out in your home at a time that suits you. We travel extensively thoughout Hampshire.
Assessment takes approximately 3 hours and involves the completion of a number of tasks. Depending on the purpose of assessment, the tasks measure verbal and visual ability, reading comprehension, word reading, spelling, visual processing, phonological processing, aspects of working memory, handwriting speed, written expression and mathematical skill.
The results of assessment are analysed and a report is prepared that outlines strengths, difficulties, implications for learning, strategies for progress, recommendations for arrangements in examinations if necessary and identification of specific learning difficulties, for example, dyslexia, as appropriate.

The report has a long life in the sense that it could be used to apply for support at university, etc.
Welcome to Solent Dyslexia Services:
Based in Southampton, we provide assessment for dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties/differences such as dyspraxia.
What is dyslexia?

Dyslexia is an information processing difference experienced by people of all ages.
Often characterised by difficulties with literacy, it can affect other areas such as memory, speed of processing, time-management, coordination and directional perception.

Due to difficulties with reading and writing, a dyslexic learner may experience underachievement in education despite having average or above average ability. The resulting frustration may lead to development of negative associations with the processes of reading and writing giving rise to anxiety about learning and achieving goals.
